On this 8-days Kilimanjaro Rongai Route, trekkers experience a variety of landscapes, including forests, moorlands, and alpine deserts, while enjoying stunning views of Kenya’s plains and the surrounding valleys. 

Starting at Rongai Gate, the trek progresses to Kikelelwa Camp and Mawenzi Tarn, before heading to Kibo Hut for the final push to Uhuru Peak. This route is ideal for those seeking a quieter, more remote Kilimanjaro experience with ample time to acclimatize.

Day By Day

Day 1: A Warm Welcome to Kilimanjaro
As you touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), our representative will be there to greet you. Prepare to be whisked away to a delightful hotel with cozy rooms, hot water, a sparkling swimming pool, and Internet access, ensuring a comfortable stay from the very start. In the evening, our expert managers will brief you, ensuring you are fully geared up for the epic climb ahead.
Day 2: Ascend through Kilimanjaro's Northern Slope
At your hotel, you will meet your knowledgeable guide and the dedicated mountain support crew. Together, you will venture to the northern entrance, Nalemuru Gate (2,020m/6627f), of Kilimanjaro National Park. After completing the necessary formalities and acquiring climbing permits, your exhilarating trek to Simba Camp (2,671m/8,612 ft) begins. Experience the wonder of the coniferous forest as you journey through Kilimanjaro's northern slopes. Take it slow, savoring every step, and witness the professional mountain crew setting up tents and preparing a scrumptious dinner.
Day 3: Rise to Kikilewa Camp - Marvel at Kibo Volcano
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a trek to Kikilewa Camp (3,630m/11909f ft). The rewards are immense, with the stunning sight of Kibo Volcano on display, weather permitting. This day requires a bit more effort, so we advise taking your time and resting upon reaching the camp.
Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Camp - Acclimatization and Adventure
Begin with an early breakfast and set off for Mawenzi Tarn Camp, nestled at the foot of Mawenzi Volcano, Kilimanjaro's second-highest point. After lunch and a rest, embark on an acclimatization hike toward Mawenzi Volcano, gaining 200 meters in altitude. Acclimatization hikes are vital for summit success, so take them seriously. You will return to Mawenzi Tarn Camp for a delectable dinner.
Day 5: Ascend to School Hut Camp - Prepare for the Summit
Trek through a rocky semi-desert landscape toward School Hut Camp (4,800m/15748f ft). Maintain a steady pace to conserve your strength for the final push to Kilimanjaro's summit. Upon reaching the camp, rest well, hydrate, and gather your energy for the thrilling ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19340f ft) that awaits you tonight.
Day 6: Reach for the Stars - Uhuru Peak Awaits!
With determination in your heart, depart from School Hut Camp (4,800m/15748f ft) in the dark hours, and set your sights on Kilimanjaro's majestic summit, Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19340f). The trek may not be technically challenging, but the high altitude demands utmost care. You will be paired with a personal guide for attentive supervision. After conquering Uhuru Peak, descend to the nearby glacier, if you desire. Continue to Kibo Camp and then to Horombo Camp (3,720m/12204f ft) for a well-earned rest.
Day 7: Celebration and Farewell
Wake up to a warm breakfast, and head towards the Kilimanjaro National Park's exit, Marangu Gate (1,970m/6463f ft). Gather with your fellow climbers for heartwarming congratulations and share your experiences in the guestbook. Commemorate your triumph with a well-deserved certificate before we transfer you back to your hotel.
Day 8: Departure
Take a day of rest at the hotel, cherishing the unforgettable memories of your Kilimanjaro adventure. When it's time, we'll provide a seamless transfer to the airport, bidding farewell to an extraordinary journey. Relish the sense of achievement and carry the spirit of Kilimanjaro in your heart forever!

  • Park Fees: All Park fees collected by Kilimanjaro National Park (conservation fees, camping fees,crew
  • Accommodation one night before and one night after the expedition.
  • For all routes except Marangu: Tented accommodation on Mount Kilimanjaro (modern,comfortable 4-season tents).
  • Special for Marangu route: Accommodation in huts. The allocation of huts is ruled by the rangers of the national park. We will do our best to arrange separate huts for our groups, but during busy months, you are likely to share huts with climbers from other groups.
  • Please note that, by default, you will share a room and a tent with your travel companion. If you travel solo on a group expedition, we will room you with a same-sex participant. Single supplement is available upon request.
  • Breakfast in the hotel before and after the hike.
  • All meals on the hike. You will find delicious, energy-rich meals on our mountain menus. Our professional chefs will prepare assorted soups, garnishes, several types of fish and meat, fresh fruit, and vegetables. Vegetarian/gluten-free/halal options are available at no extra cost.
  • All drinks on the hike (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and water).
  • Hiking and safety equipment:
  • 4-inch (10-cm) thick and comfortable sleeping mats.
  • All group equipment (dining tent, table, chairs, crockery, and cutlery).
  • Oxygen cylinders and oximeters.
  • Complete medical kits.
  • Professional guides licensed by Kilimanjaro National Park. All guides are holders of Wilderness
  • First Responder certification. All of them have 5+ years of successful experience.
  • Dedicated support crew (assistant guides, camp master, porters, cooks, etc.).
  • Taxes: 18% VAT, 1% TDL, and 0.3% Service Levy.

Exclude

  • International flights.
  • Tips (250-300 USD per climber for the whole mountain crew).
  • Visa fee (100 USD for American citizens and 50 USD for all others).
  • Personal gear rentals.
  • Lunch and dinner at the hotel (before and after the climb).
  • Portable toilets (if required – 250 USD per unit, one can be shared between 3 people). Portable toilets are not available on the Marangu route.
  • Mountaineering insurance. You’ll need special insurance for climbing Kilimanjaro that covers
